Principal's Message - 2nd September 2019

Dear Parents,

What an exciting week it has been, getting to know your children as they at last returned from the long summer break. They certainly noticed that NAISAK looks like a whole new school! This week it was especially pleasing to see the Secondary school students move into their wonderful new building. Even at the busiest times of day, there is space for everyone to move around the hallways and space to store their bags. Furthermore, the new classrooms are so spacious, bright and airy that they are really inspiring the students. In particular, our state-of-the-art new science labs will be a real asset as we continue to place STEAM subjects at the heart of our curriculum. I’m looking forward to seeing our students participating in our MIT challenges as well as their regular science lessons. Of course with Secondary moving into the new building, there is now lots more room in the Primary school. We have had some work done to improve our provision for Early Years, as well as generally brightening and decluttering the Primary school. The new bathrooms have been especially well received! Finally, all students will benefit from our beautiful new swimming pool. Curriculum swim lessons start for some year groups next week and so do ECAS and external lessons. The building isn’t quite finished yet though; further improvement work will continue as the year goes along. Our next project will be the creation of a Dance and Drama Studio to enable us to deliver more of our Juilliard Performing Arts programme. These are exciting times at NAISAK.

After all the construction work over the summer, I was so happy to see the school full of children at last! I have spoken to the whole student body now, during both Primary and Secondary assembly time. During my introduction, I stressed the importance of communicating with each other. Communication begins with the basics, so I have encouraged all of your children to make eye contact with the adults around the school and to say “good morning” when greeted. Good manners and respect for everyone in the community is of key importance and we will not build a successful school without it.

I look forward to getting to know you and your children better as the year progresses. It has been wonderful to meet some of you at our recent Saturday Open Mornings; we will be holding one more of these this Saturday 7^th September between 10am-12pm. If you or any friends and family would like to pop in to say hello to me, it would be my pleasure to meet you and perhaps show you around our new facilities. I would also like to say a public ‘thank you’ to the NAISAK family who presented me with a welcome cake last week! I feel at home in my new community already and thank you all for the warm welcome you have shown me.
