Our approach to teaching the interdisciplinary subjects of STEAM is all about giving children the tools to achieve more. Through hands-on practical problem solving, interdisciplinary learning and the development of transferable skills, children can imagine a world of boundless opportunities. Nord Anglia Education is working with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to introduce children to this innovative way of learning the STEAM subjects, which encourages creativity, experimentation and teaches them how to apply their skills to real-world situations

We are delighted to announce that, as part of Nord Anglia’s partnership with MIT, 104 students from 26 schools will once again have the opportunity to travel to Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, to participate in the annual STEAM week @ MIT. MIT regularly leads international league tables and is widely regarded as the top university in the world for Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts & Maths (STEAM). We are therefore thoroughly excited to be able to offer Nord Anglia International School Al Khor students the opportunity to participate in the week-long STEAM programme designed by MIT specifically for Nord Anglia Education, which will be packed full of unique learning opportunities to develop students’ skills and knowledge.

NAISAK has been given four student places and the trip is targeting students in Year 7. Due to its popularity, there is a strict selection process, as outlined in the letter that is going home to Year 7 students tomorrow. Good luck to our students!

 

KS4 and KS5 Options Evenings

Last Monday and Tuesday, the Secondary School hosted the Key Stage 4 and the Key Stage 5 Options Information Evenings for 2018-2020. Some students have a clear idea of what learning and professional journeys they intend to embark on, while others are still thinking and exploring future prospects. In our context, the fact that so many of our students are studying away from their home country adds a dimension to take into consideration when choosing subjects, but also widens the range of opportunities available. Making informed choices is essential as such choices will impact on the ability to apply to certain post-18 courses and on university admissions. A piece of advice that was shared across both evenings was to dedicate some time to research university courses and admissions requirements so our parents’ and students’ awareness of what lies ahead increases.
