Academic excellence
By personalising every student’s education through a combination of challenge, support and opportunity, we help your child achieve outstanding results, and create a pathway to the world’s top universities—both in Switzerland and around the world.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
With the IB Diploma, our students leave LCIS with a globally recognised qualification that equips them to apply to top Swiss and international universities. Through tailored support, we ensure that our students reach outstanding academic standards, regardless of their starting point. Our wide range of IBDP subjects allows students to focus on their strengths and realise their interests, while ensuring academic rigour and excellent future opportunities. In 2020–21, our IBDP students scored an average of 36 points, the school’s best ever results and nearly 10% higher than the 2021 world average. 27% of students achieved 40 points or more, a result achieved by just 9% of IBDP graduates worldwide that year. 43% of our students obtained a bilingual diploma, giving them a significant advantage when choosing universities and entering employment. Recent graduates attend highly-rated universities like Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US, McGill University and the University of Toronto in Canada, Bristol University, Edinburgh University and King's College London in the UK, University of Leiden in the Netherlands and École hôtelière de Lausanne here in Switzerland.

Exceptional learning experiences
At our school, students embrace a variety of experiences, from interacting with the NAE global family to working with MIT or The Julliard School. These develop their integrity, courage, and independence from a young age, empowering them to make a positive impact on the world.

EXCEPTIONAL LEARNING EXPERIENCES
Our glorious surroundings - Lac Léman, the Jura Mountains, and the Swiss Alps - mean that skiing, hiking and outdoor adventures are integral parts of the academic calendar. For instance, students can opt to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Award, which not only boosts confidence, but also stands out on a university application. Our broad Performing Arts programme is strengthened by our collaboration with The Juilliard School. Our collaboration with MIT takes a real-world, hands-on approach to teaching STEAM subjects. With UNICEF, we raise awareness of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and learn to create local solutions for global issues. The Citizenship Expedition to Arusha, Tanzania gives students priceless experience of community service while they learn about sustainability and the environment. The Personal Challenge Expedition in Les Martinets, Switzerland develops their perseverance, and challenges them to overcome personal boundaries while enjoying the breath-taking views. LCIS even offers the exclusive Exhibitioner Award, encouraging students to grow and thrive in their interests outside the curriculum, developing skills for life beyond the classroom. With so many experiences to choose from, every student finds a way to nurture their talents and develop new skills.

Our social purpose
At LCIS, we challenge every student to become a responsible, positive contributor to society. We strive to foster confident global citizens who’ll make our world a better place.

Our social purpose

Our students make meaningful change through global outreach, by fundraising and volunteering for causes they care about. Our global partnership with UNICEF helps open our students’ eyes to the world around them and encourages them to develop their own sense of purpose.

On top of that, we encourage students to deliver meaningful change through local outreach, where they can join fundraising and volunteering activities on issues they truly care about. Each year, our students support hundreds of local causes through activities with UNICEF and the United Nation's 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

As part of the IBDP curriculum, students study Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) and Theory of Knowledge (ToK), which give them the tools to research, reflect on, and manage student-led service projects. Through our commitment to delivering the best Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education, we ensure students develop the skills to thrive both as individuals and as members of society.

What our parents say

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What qualifications do your teachers have?
As a member of the Nord Anglia family, LCIS has the global reach to attract and hire only the best teachers from around the world. All our teachers have a recognised teaching qualification and are highly accomplished in their field. Our experienced international educators will do everything possible to make your child feel welcome at our school.
  • Do students wear uniforms?
Yes, our students wear a smart and comfortable uniform. We believe that wearing a uniform instils a sense of belonging and respect, while also helping to save time in the morning.
  • What curriculum do you teach?
Our youngest learners gain fundamental skills through the broad and stimulating Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.

Our Primary curriculum combines the best aspects of the National Curriculum for England (ENC) and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). Our integrated, tailored range of French options, from beginner level to truly bilingual, provides an excellent transition into the diverse international secondary curriculum offer.

Lower Secondary students (Years 7–9) follow a curriculum programme that prepares them for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) at age 16 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) at ages 16–18.

The IBDP is internationally considered the “gold standard” among pre-university qualifications and is recognised by world-leading universities globally. Whether your child opts for a single language or bilingual IB Diploma, they will be well equipped to successfully apply to top universities in Switzerland and abroad.
  • English is not our native language. Will my child be ok?
English as an Additional Language (EAL) support is always available to new students at LCIS, and our highly qualified teachers have plenty of experience integrating students from many different language backgrounds. No matter your home language, your child will be supported to adapt quickly and succeed in school, both academically and socially.
  • What afterschool activities do you offer?
We offer an exciting programme of over 80 extracurricular activities for our students. With clubs available for STEAM subjects, art, sports, music, drama, robotics, computer science, French, German, and many other academically enriching activities, there truly is something for every student, no matter their interests or hobbies.
  • How do you support the wellbeing of your students?
Nurturing students’ health and wellbeing is one of the most important things we do as a school. That’s why Personal, Social, Health and Emotional (PSHE) education is at the heart of our curriculum, beginning with Circle Time for our Early Years students and continuing with weekly PSHE lessons as they grow. PSHE includes topics such as social and emotional wellbeing, developing study skills, and honing a positive mindset for learning. Our Primary and Secondary counsellors are also onsite to support our students and their families whenever needed.
  • Do you offer a lunch service?
Yes, our onsite catering team prepares fresh, delicious and nutritious meal options for our students every day.
  • When do you accept applications?
We accept applications throughout the year, and new students may enrol after the academic year begins.
