On the morning of Friday the 2nd of July, The International School of Moscow held its first-ever Virtual Whole School Speech Day, beaming out across our campuses, Moscow and the world via ‘YouTube’.
We were treated to some superb musical pieces from our Rosinka, Krylatskoe Lower and Krylatskoe Upper Campuses and a stunning medley finale of The Beatles’ ‘All You Need is Love’ to end our Speech Day.
Students from across three campuses spoke eloquently and articulately, reflecting on past triumphs, as well as looking to dreams of the the future.
Throughout Speech Day, students from across our school were awarded for their magnificent achievements.
In our Primary School, one student from each year group was awarded with an ‘Academic Award’ and one student from each year group was awarded with a ‘Citizenship Award'. The Academic Award recognises dedication to the pursuit of academic growth and excellence. The Citizenship Award recognizes consistent contributions to the welfare of fellow pupils and the wider community. In our Secondary School, one student was selected for a special award in each subject area. A new award was introduced this academic year: The ‘Above and Beyond’ award for special efforts from very special students.
'Special Outstanding Achievement' awards were presented to Giulia Gardumi and Sofia Pisarskaya for their outstanding work in our school, as recognised by The Council of British International Schools.
'The Victoria Reznik Award' was presented to Varvara Zenkina. The Ivan Gromov award was presented to Anna Reznik. Many congratulations to Varvara and Anna for your magnificent achievements in being awarded the two most prestigious trophies in our school.
The final trophy of Speech Day was the most eagerly-anticipated: 'The House Trophy Award'; awarded to the House who recorded the most number of House points over the course of the academic year. Many congratulations to………………………………………………..The Saxons.
The finale to 2021’s Speech Day was the culmination of the biggest single charitable effort in our school’s history: a common goal that has truly brought our community together as one: ‘Heart for Melisa’.
Mr Keach announced that we had reached our target of raising 1,100,000 Euros for ‘Heart for Melisa’ in order for Year 12 Melisa Erdem to undergo a heart transplant. Through walks, runs, art auctions, bake sales, non-uniform days, a Danceathon, concerts, kind donations and many, many, many more events, we have helped give a Heart for Melisa.
Sing it loud, sing it proud, we did it! We raised 1,100,000 Euros for ‘Heart for Melisa.
We thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts, for your kindness of spirit and generosity.
