OUR GIFT TO YOU!
Computers are everywhere, changing every industry on the planet, but fewer than half of
all schools teach Computer Science. Girls and minorities are severely underrepresented
in computer science classes and in the tech industry as a whole. Good news is, we’re on
our way to change this. The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions
of students in 180+ countries, designed to demystify and to show that anyone can learn
the basics. ‘In fifteen years we’ll be teaching programming just like reading and writing’
Mark Zukerberg.
With the Hour of Code, Computer Science has been on homepages of Google, MSN,
Yahoo!, and Disney. Every Apple Store in the world has hosted an Hour of Code. Even
Barak Obama wrote his first line of code as part of the campaign. That is why students at
Compass International School Doha across all three campuses are joining in on the
largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code, during Computer Science Education
Week (December 4-10). The Hour of Code, organised by the non-profit Code.org and
over 100 others, is a global movement that believes the students of today are ready to
learn critical skills for 21st-century success.
The blog highlights the transformative power of physical activity, emphasizing how it boosts energy, focus, and mental well-being. At Compass International School, promoting an active lifestyle is integral to fostering both physical and emotional health, which in turn enhances students' academic performance. The new initiative, Kickstart Kilometre, invites the school community to walk or jog together every Thursday morning, kickstarting their day with positive energy and improved focus. This approach aims to inspire a balanced lifestyle that helps manage stress and supports overall success in both academics and life.
