GLOBAL CAMPUS PHOTOGRAPHERS OF THE YEAR 2017 / 2018

Theme: “Where I Live”

This year’s competition ties in with Nord Anglia’s collaboration with UNICEF and their Sustainable Development Goals. The competition theme is ‘Where I Live’, which specifically supports learning around Goal 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities.

By entering this competition, students will have the opportunity to have their work seen, not only by our family of schools, but also by people around the world!

Age categories

All students are invited to join the competition and compete to win one of the following titles:

• Global Campus Photographer of the Year, 8 and under (EYFS – year 3/grade 2)
• Global Campus Junior Photographer of the Year

(Age 8-11, years 4-6/grades 3-5)

• Global Campus Young Photographer of the Year

(Age 11-14,years 7-9/grades 6-8)

• Global Campus Photographer of the Year

(Age 14-18, years 10-13/grades 9-12)

How to join the competition

Participating students will submit one photo to the school’s Global Campus Leader, Mr. McArtney, with the following:

• Title of the photograph
• A clear link to the theme and the UNICEF goals
• Location the photograph was taken
• Approximately 50 words explaining why the photograph was taken and how it fits the theme

You can e-mail our Global Campus Leaders directly at alan.mcartney@nais.qa for Primary students or laura.anderson@nais.qa for Secondary students.  Alternatively, you can pass a USB stick to them in school with the photograph and written explanation.

Rules

• Photographs entered must be the original work of the student.
• One entry per student.
• Entries must be in digital format, .jpeg or .png. Print or film submissions will not be accepted.
• Each entry must be at least 300dpi/3MB and no larger than 20MB.
• Minimal editing such as cropping and colour correcting is allowed, but use of filters in the post-production process is not permitted.
• Entries with text, clip art or borders on will not be accepted.
• The judge’s decisions are final.
• By entering the competition, students agree that Nord Anglia Education and UNICEF can publish their photographs online and in print.
• Note: If a student submits a photograph with a person as the focal point, it is the student’s responsibility to ensure that this person has given expressed permission for their picture to be submitted as a competition entry.

• Final date for submission of photographs is Thursday 28th September

Prizes

Our students will be competing with other schools across the world, in the hope to win…

• Category winner – students who win their age category will have their work featured on one page of the calendar.
• Calendar cover – One of the category winners will have their work chosen as calendar cover.
• Highly commended – students who are highly commended in their age category will have their work. featured on one page of the calendar.

• Runners up – students whose work is selected as runner up will have their work included in the calendar.

Any students whose work appears in the calendar will receive their own copy of the calendar. There are a number of other prizes which will be confirmed by Nord Anglia towards the end of October.

This year’s new Student Council will have the task of selecting the best entries from Compass, Madinat Khalifa across each age category.
