The Early Years parents attended a workshop on reading on the first day back after the Tet holidays. The session was well attended and allowed parents to see what was involved when teaching reading at this young age. They went away with ideas on how best to support their child at home, websites links and APPs to encourage reading and storytelling particularly when they may not have many books at home.
I would like to welcome you back to this new year and new term. It is wonderful to see all of our returning students and over 30 new students too enjoying the teaching and learning opportunities available to them. As I have wandered through each building in this first week, I have seen plenty of evidence of both: authoritative and informative teaching; purposeful and busy classroom environments; engaged and happy students, glad to be back in friendly stimulating environments. It is a joy to see.
Happy New Year! It is wonderful to see everyone back in school, fit and healthy and looking forward to the term ahead. The most important time of the year in Vietnam is fast approaching with Lunar New Year happening in just a few weeks’ time. Like in the UK, New Year is a time for fresh starts and new opportunities to be taken, it is a time to be ambitious. Let’s hope we are all ambitious and try out new things which we persevere at and hopefully enjoy success. A warm welcome too for all our new families joining us at the start of this calendar year.
A new term begins and the F2 and F3 children embraced their new topics with squeals of excitement. They couldn’t wait to find out what they would be learning about next and asked lots of questions. Plenty of time was provided for them to explore their new learning environments.
Well, we have finally come to the end of our first term of the year. What a term it has been, and what a final week as well!
On Monday, we had our annual sports day; the entire school at the My Dinh stadium track for a day of track and field athletics, plus some good old fashioned tug of war! It was a wonderful occasion with some fine performances from all who took part in the cold, damp conditions.
Last Friday we witnessed ‘A Child’s Journey. Act 2’. This was our combined winter arts celebration and what a fantastic showpiece it was. Every single Primary student participated, dancing or playing music and all had a piece of art work on show too.
We were all left wanting more after the amazing performances from our students in this year’s musical production of ‘Oliver’ From song and dance to London accented acting, we were dazzled by the cast who transformed our auditorium in Hanoi into the grim streets of 19th Century London.
On the Primary side, the Winter Arts Festival has also impressed. A collection of art, dance and music (collective and individual) showed the strides these youngsters have made. Many of the paintings are stunning. Dance being new on the curriculum has certainly caught the imagination too, and the children are enjoying the teamwork that comes from singing together in harmony.
For World Children’s Day on 20 November, students around the world came together to raise their voice on the
importance of children’s rights. Find out why Nord Anglia Education schools are empowering students to become
global citizens.
