Hello everyone! I am Faisal Shahid, a dedicated Computer Science educator with 18 years of experience in both academia and industry, holding a BSc in Computer Studies and a PGCE. Before entering education, I honed my skills solving real-world business challenges, which instilled in me a commitment to equipping students with essential skills for today’s technology-driven landscape. As a former Head of Business Studies, I empowered students to critically analyze businesses, developed a thriving Computer Science department, and advocated for personalized learning while fostering diversity and inclusion in the classroom.
I am excited to bring my expertise and enthusiasm to the vibrant BSY community in Myanmar. Immersing myself in this country's rich culture and exploring its landscapes and historical sites is an incredibly thrilling prospect. Professionally, I look forward to collaborating with colleagues and students, contributing to Myanmar’s educational landscape, and engaging in community service initiatives. Personally, I find joy in practicing Shotokan Karate and enjoying outdoor activities with my family.
Last year marked an exciting chapter for the British School Yangon as we launched our first MIT challenges, designed to push the boundaries of learning by encouraging students to dive deep into hands-on, collaborative problem-solving. From Early Years to Year 10, students engaged in challenges that stimulated their curiosity, sharpened their critical thinking, and connected classroom knowledge to real-world applications. What started as an initiative has now become a defining feature of our curriculum.
We are excited to share a significant milestone in our journey: The British School Yangon (BSY) has officially received accreditation from the Council of British International Schools (COBIS). This prestigious recognition highlights our unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality education that aligns with British standards.
