Bottling Business: Students Visit Coca-Cola

On 21 November, Year 12 and Year 13 students from the IBDP Business Management programme went on a trip to the Swire Coca-Cola Factory in Pudong. The visit provided our students with a unique learning opportunity to observe firsthand the operations of one of the world’s leading beverage companies. Guided by the factory representative Mr. Gu Yanbin, the group explored the state-of-the-art production lines, interacted with the industry professionals, and gained an in-depth understanding of how a multinational corporation functions in a local context.

The purpose of this trip was to bring the concepts learnt in the classroom to life. The students observed flow production, lean production techniques, and the implementation of a capital-intensive production model.

The visit highlighted Coca-Cola’s commitment to sustainability, demonstrating eco-friendly practices such as waste reduction and energy-efficient processes. Beyond operations, students analysed the company's marketing strategies and witnessed how creativity is integrated into their brand development. This hands-on experience enriched students’ understanding of Business Management principles and connected theoretical knowledge to real-world applications, fostering both academic and practical insights.
