The BISS community's fundraising efforts during the Charity Ball in April 2024 has helped to fund life-saving heart surgery for three young children. Read their stories here...
Yanzhi, a 13-month-old girl from Anhui province, was diagnosed with congenital heart disease at six months old. Her family, struggling with a debt of RMB 60,000, was unable to afford the surgery her doctors recommended. Yanzhi’s father, who works in a factory making cardboard boxes, earns around RMB 24,000 a year, making it difficult to cover the medical costs. However, with the support from the BISS Ball, her heart surgery was successfully performed on October 14.
Jiayi, a two-year-old girl from Shandong province, also faced a similar situation. Diagnosed with congenital heart disease, her family lacked the resources to afford her surgery. Her father, a carpenter on a construction site, earns approximately RMB 20,000 annually, much of which goes toward caring for Jiayi’s brother, who has visual disabilities and albinism. The family was already burdened by a debt of RMB 50,000 for previous medical expenses. Thanks to the funding from the BISS Ball, Jiayi had her heart surgery on October 15.
Yuxin, a five-year-old boy from Fujian province, discovered he had a heart condition during a school physical. Despite the recommendation for surgery, his family, with an annual income of RMB 40,000, couldn't gather the necessary funds. Living in rural Fujian, most of their resources are used for day-to-day living expenses. However, on October 16, Yuxin received his heart surgery with the aid of the BISS Ball.
Each of these children now has a brighter future thanks to the BISS community’s support. Your generosity has made a profound difference in their lives, offering them the chance for a healthy life.
