In their opening match, the Lions faced a formidable opponent in Hangzhou International School. Despite their best efforts, they lost 2-0, with a particularly hard-fought second set that extinguished any hopes of advancing to the final four.
Determined to bounce back, the Lions took on the tournament host in their next match, vying for a chance to secure the 5th spot. This time, the BISS Lions rallied together, delivering a convincing performance to win 2-0 and reclaim their competitive spirit.
The match for 5th place was against the wildcard British School of Nanjing Tigers, one of our Nord Anglia Education sister schools, who travelled to SISAC to extend their volleyball season and enhance their players' exposure. This exciting contest saw the Lions take an early lead, winning the first set 1-0. The Tigers responded fiercely in the second set, creating a thrilling matchup as the Lions aimed to maintain their momentum. Ultimately, the Lions took control of the match, securing a 2-0 victory and clinching the 5th spot in the tournament.
Rich from this experience, the BISS Lions now set their sights on the upcoming ACAMIS Red Division tournament, which they will host at the British International School Shanghai from Thursday 31 October to Saturday 2 November. This year's competition features a strong lineup, including the 2023/24 reigning champion Chinese International School, Hong Kong, alongside Renaissance College Hong Kong, Suzhou Singapore International School, DCS Shanghai, DCS Beijing, and the mighty BISS Lions. The team's objective is to secure a spot in the top four.
