We are excited to share with you a recap of the recent camping and hiking Adventurous Journey for The Duke of Edinburgh International Award that took place on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 March. Our students embarked on a memorable two-day expedition in Moganshan, Zhejiang Province, where they hiked through bamboo forests, conquered elevations of 750 metres, and camped under the stars for one night.
During the journey, the students showcased their navigation skills, camp craft, teamwork and resilience, impressing us with their dedication and commitment to the challenge. This was a huge improvement from the practice trip which took place a few weeks earlier.
Our adventure began bright and early, meeting at school at 6 a.m. to start our expedition. The weather proved to be a stark contrast to our practice trip, with glorious sunshine and warmer temperatures during the day, while the early hours of camping brought about cool and chilly conditions that added to the thrill of the experience.
This journey was not just about conquering nature's obstacles but also about personal growth, camaraderie, and creating lasting memories. We are proud of our students' accomplishments and the resilience they displayed throughout the expedition.
We are pleased to inform you that all students successfully passed this part of the DofE IA, demonstrating their readiness to be ‘World Ready’. Now, their focus shifts to completing their Online Record Book to officially qualify for this prestigious award.
Here's to many more exciting adventures ahead!
