On 7 December, the Medical Club embarked on an enlightening visit to Jiahui International Hospital to attend a 2-hour Clinical Practice and Simulation Workshop of MSK (Musculoskeletal). This unique opportunity allowed our medical enthusiasts to delve deeper into the intricate world of bone structure, types of bone injuries and their respective treatments, all under the expert guidance of Jiahui Health's junior orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Zhao Qitong.
The workshop commenced with an in-depth exploration of bone anatomy, providing the students with a comprehensive understanding of the skeletal system. The participants were introduced to various bone injuries, ranging from fractures to dislocations, and were educated about basic treatments. The interactive sessions facilitated meaningful discussions, enabling the students to gain valuable insights from the experienced surgeon.
Moreover, the workshop emphasised the significance of sports injury prevention and first aid techniques. Students were equipped with practical knowledge on how to protect themselves from common sports injuries and maintain optimal bone and muscle health in their daily lives. This knowledge will undoubtedly prove invaluable as they consider medical science as their career path or engage in physical activities.
To commemorate their participation, all attendees received a Jiahui Health certificate of completion. This certificate serves as a testament to their dedication and commitment to learning and can be proudly included in their portfolios for future university applications.
The Medical Club's visit to Jiahui International Hospital was an eye-opening experience that broadened horizons and nurtured a passion for orthopaedics among our young aspiring future medical students. It provided them with a unique opportunity to learn from an esteemed expert, fostering a deeper understanding of bone health and injury management. The club members returned enriched and inspired, ready to apply their newfound knowledge in their academic pursuits and future medical endeavours.
