Friday’s event was a culmination of a lot of organisation and hard work over the last few weeks: preparing and ordering ingredients for cooking, to creating flyers for this event and inviting parents to join. Over the past week, the Year 5 children also became young bakers, who prepared delicious Greek bread for everyone to savour at the picnic. Accompanying the bread were bowls of hummus, and platters of green and black olives, allowing everyone to experience the authentic flavours of Greece.
One of the highlights of the day was the array of costumes worn by both students and teachers. Some transformed into gods and goddesses, while others donned simple togas or took on the personas of ancient gladiators. The photographs of the children in costume were elevated thanks to Ms Tracie West, who had created wonderful Greek photo frames with the children. They could then pose for photos in the frames.
We are immensely proud of our Year 5 students for their enthusiasm, teamwork, and dedication in making this Greek event a remarkable success and a memorable experience for all. We look forward to exploring the wonders of ancient Greece together throughout the coming weeks. Finally, a heartfelt thanks to all the parents who attended the event. Your presence made the celebration even more special. Thank you once again for your continued support.
