Open Days
Last week, Year One students were very excited to go on their first educational visit of the year! Excursions out of school are such a valuable part of our students’ education and learning experience, and we are delighted that we can now resume such activities.
Linked to our current STEAM learning about Explorers, Year One took a tip to Changfeng Ocean World, located within Changfeng Ocean Park. Undaunted by the rainy weather, the children came well prepared with their raincoats and happily went off on our school buses to the park.
On arriving at the aquarium, the children explored the underwater world with enthusiasm, completing an ‘under water creature count’ of some of the different creatures they could see, including stingrays, sharks and jellyfish. One of the highlights of the trip was being allowed to touch the starfish, and also seeing the replica of one of Zheng He’s treasure ships sunk beneath the water, where divers could be seen swimming around! The children also enjoyed sketching some of their favourite ocean animals, and constructing sea creatures out of Lego.
Unfortunately, due to the rain, our planned picnic at the park was not possible, but this did not take away from the enjoyment of the day. After a busy morning at the aquarium, Year One returned to school and enjoyed a relaxing lunch in the classroom with their friends and teachers. We are very grateful to our parent helpers who supported on the visit in order to make the trip possible, and we look forward to further excursions very soon - with hopefully improved weather!
