On Friday afternoon, students in Years 8 and 9 demonstrated their mastery of spelling through taking part in the English Spelling Bee.
Last Friday marked the start of a busy performing season for our Senior Choir. The students delighted a crowd of over 100 invited guests as they performed at the tree-lighting ceremony for the Intercontinental Hotel Shanghai Hongqiao NECC. Our choir was an integral part of the ceremony as they performed both traditional and more modern Christmas songs. Our choir members can be very proud of their performance.
In an exciting encounter at the CISSA Juniors Girls Football tournament, the team from BISS Puxi faced off against Dulwich Puxi. The match ended in a thrilling tie, with both teams managing to score two goals each.
A few hours after the Christmas Fair at BISS Puxi, a very special guest arrived on the school premises. The one and only Sinterklaas, who visits Dutch and Belgian families every year in December, paid the Shanghai Dutch School his annual visit on Saturday. He was welcomed by excited students and parents as he arrived at the Primary Gate.

On Saturday 25 November, The British International School Shanghai, Puxi, in collaboration with Evergreen Homeland, successfully hosted the highly anticipated annual 5K Fun Run. BISS Puxi was delighted to welcome Ashley Newman to BISS Puxi last week. Ashley is BISS Puxi’s Juilliard Dance Curriculum Specialist. Ashley spent three days with BISS staff and students and mainly focused on providing professional development to the members of faculty who teach dance at BISS Puxi.
This academic year has been a remarkable one for the aspiring mathematicians at the British International School, Shanghai. Our students have not only excelled in the recent UKMT Senior Maths Challenge but are also gearing up for the upcoming British Mathematical Olympiad (BMO), set to be held today.
On Thursday 2 November and Friday 3 November, students were welcomed into the first Book Fair of the school year. With both Blue Fountain and Obido book companies represented, our students had access to a wide range of new books, catering to all needs and wants. From Minecraft to Exploring the World, there was something for everybody and the Fair was a resounding success.
At BISS, we have been working hard to upgrade and improve our reading provision and library resources for our Primary students. We aim to support our students to find a ‘new world of adventure’ within stories that can be used across the curriculum.
