The Global Games is a five-day multi-sport event that unites students in Year 7-9 from 14 Nord Anglia schools across The Americas.
The event is hosted at Windermere Preparatory School near Orlando, Florida and gives the opportunity for students to compete across the following sports: archery, basketball, flag football, sand volleyball, soccer, swimming, tennis, track and field and volleyball. The Global Games programme is designated to cater for all abilities in sport and to enable all students to thrive in an atmosphere of ambition and team work.
Our BISC-SL Bulldogs brought 117 students and 12 staff, making us in the top 3 for the whole competition for participating students in this outstanding event. The hotel we stayed at was the Marriott Courtyard. We competed in all 9 sporting events placing teams in all available levels of Gold, Silver and Bronze. The Global Games organizers allowed students to stretch their legs in some incredible after sport activities such as: Medieval Times on the 1st day, Andretti’s indoor go-carting and arcade, Disney World’s Magic Kingdom(and tomorrow land of course!). On the 5th day, we celebrated a wonderful trip at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. We have many happy memories which will last with us forever!
The Bulldogs came in clutch with 3 trophies in the Girls Silver division for Flag Football, Girls Bronze division for Volleyball and Raina in Year 8 got the gold medal in the girls 100m sprint with an impressive time. We also achieved a silver medal in Boys Sand Volleyball. Overall, we were awarded 5 bronze medals in: Girls Silver division for volleyball, Boys Silver division for Flag Football. In track and field, Jason won bronze in the 400m and Sebastian achieved a bronze in the Long Jump.
Overall, all the students went to bed very tired from putting their all into these events and representing the school to the best of their ability. We would like to thank all the amazing students who participated in this event and everyone in the P.E. department and staff who ran the trip, supported the students and coached the teams.
GO BULLDOGS!
