Attend Our Open House
The Village School BioQuattuor team won first place in the national Thomas Edison Pitch Contest against more than 50 middle school teams. They presented their insulin bot prototype to the panel of judges May 17 via a video conference and have been awarded a 3D printer for the school as well as individual gift cards.
This team was inspired by Thomas Edison to think of something that helps people in the present and future as well.Their invention, the Insulin Bot, is an insulin delivery nano-robot that helps give a person with diabetes the correct dosage of insulin that they need by turning sweat into energy and ultimately saving thousands of lives.
Students used only what was provided in the maker kit for the challenge and conducted extensive research into both Thomas Edison and their BioMedical challenge. Students selected the topic themselves and kept detailed journals of their research and development process which culminated in their five-minute pitch to judges.
