Attend Our Open House
Frantic Assembly, known internationally for its innovative and hands-on approach to theater and its work on Harry Potter Live in the West End of London and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, will make its highly anticipated return to The Village School.
From September 19 – September 28, Frantic Assembly’s practitioners will mentor Village students on the foundational building blocks of theater. Students will experience firsthand Frantic’s one-on-one instructive approach, which encourages the idea of embracing the unknown to create brave, bold theater. Frantic’s visit culminates on September 28 with a public performance by Village students to unveil the result of their work with Frantic. “Having Frantic Assembly on our campus is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many students, and we’ve been lucky enough to host them three times in the past year,” said Gabriella Rowe, Head of School at The Village School. “We work hard to bring these types of diverse opportunities to our students because art is a critical part of our well-rounded STEAM program.”
The Village School’s fine arts curriculum is a rarity among Houston’s schools both public and private. At Village, students are introduced to fine arts in grade school, with the ultimate goal of building a strong base of creative skills as early in students’ lives as possible.
“Integrating a wide range of performing arts into our curriculum is vital to our students at every age,” said Yvonne Oaks, Assistant Director of Theater at The Village School. “Students who engage with the arts early and often learn the value of teamwork, and also are given tools to express themselves throughout their lives.”
Frantic Assembly’s initial visit to Village in September 2016 marked its first visit to Texas in the company’s 21-year history, and the company returned in January of this year to lead additional workshops. Since Frantic’s founding, the team has toured all across Great Britain and worked in 40 countries.
