Attend Our Open House
The Village School students visited Chief Resilience Officer Stephen Costello on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 to discuss flooding in Houston, as part of the challenge released by MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).
The Data-Driven Curiosity Challenge is the second phase of a three-part challenge designed by MIT experts based on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) subjects and the scientific method. Student representatives from elementary, middle and high school visited with Mr. Costello about the main concerns the City of Houston faces while working with the community to solve the flooding problem.
The students researched the history of flooding in Houston, causes of flooding, and developed ideas for a solution. The students and Mr. Costello had an in-depth conversation regarding the city’s plans and how Village students might be able to help.
