Meet Our Yogi-Geographer, Ms. Palmet!
As we prepare for the visit of Jim Plunkett-Cole, a UK runner on an epic journey reminiscent of fictional character Forrest Gump, we’re spotlighting our very own fitness enthusiast, Ms. Rebecca Palmet.
We're getting ready for the visit of Jim Plunkett-Cole, a UK runner on an epic journey reminiscent of fictional character Forrest Gump. We're feeling inspired by his message about healthy living, so this week we're diving into balance and well-being. First up, meet our yogi-geographer, Ms. Palmet.
Here at school, Ms. Palmet is a Geography Specialist and IB Coordinator, but in her spare time she digs yoga. She has practiced for as long as she has been teaching – “a really long time!” she says. Ms. Palmet treasures all aspects of yoga and finds it benefits both her body and mind. On top of the physical challenge presented by the poses, Ms. Palmet says the breathing and meditation components help boost her calm and focus.
Her passion for yoga led Ms. Palmet to start a yoga class for students on Friday mornings. Yoga has a variety of benefits for children during the developmental stages of their lives, and the students say they leave Ms. Palmet’s class feeling balanced, happy and ready to focus on learning.
Ms. Palmet’s yoga class is a fantastic example of our holistic approach to learning, which helps students grow academically, socially and personally. We’re pleased that Ms. Palmet is sharing her passion with students and providing them another opportunity to try something new!
