We’re already halfway through this year’s basketball season, so have a look at the teams’ success to date.

Girls Basketball

Junior Varsity

What a fantastic start! Our Junior Varsity team started the season with four wins in four games over Near North Montessori, Bernard Zell Anshe Emet, Catherine Cook and Lycee Francais. This year the Lady Bulldogs have grown in confidence with the central core having also played last year. The team has great talents that add strength and intensity.

Varsity

The Varsity team is making strides towards putting their hard work from practice onto the court. Kemi has proven herself a team leader and has been a real threat to competitors. After losing the first three games, the Varsity team picked up a crucial win against Lycee Francais before winter break.

High School

Our High School girls are currently 1-1 in their division. They narrowly lost to Waldorf by six points but showed signs of improvement on the offensive end of the floor. In their second game, the girls hosted Beacon Academy and looked to claim the first win of the season. They played outstanding team basketball, taking a commanding 18-point lead at half time, then continued their impressive form in the second half and stretched the lead to 25 points. The ladies have six more games on their schedule, and if they maintain their competitive form, it will be rewarded with a high playoff seed.

Boys Basketball

Middle School

The Junior Varsity boys are first in their league with an impressive record of five wins and only one loss. The team is looking to build momentum going into the second half of the season to become a highly ranked playoff team. The teams’ unselfish offense and fast-break style of play have allowed them to maintain court speed. We have a busy schedule coming up, but with discipline on the court and hard work during training sessions, the boys are in an excellent place to go further into the playoffs.

High School

The High School boys started the season with an impressive 30+ win at home over Lycee Francais, playing impressive basketball. Their momentum faltered a bit after a loss at Lycee Francais, but they made a comeback in their second home game against Beacon Academy. The Bulldogs were down by six points with three minutes to go, but rallied back with excellent team defense and senior Yaakov leading the way in rebounds and scoring.

Way to go, Bulldogs!
