80 Floors & 1,600 Steps: BISC Puts Best Foot Forward for Aon Step Up For Kids BISC came together for Aon Step Up For Kids, climbing to the top of Chicago’s third tallest building to raise money for Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.

Amazing! The BISC community came together on January 31 for Aon Step Up For Kids, climbing to the top of Chicago’s third tallest building and raising money for Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.

Throughout the year, our students, staff and parents take part in a variety of philanthropic activities both globally and locally, from carrying out service projects at a school in Tanzania through the Global Campus program, to organizing donation drives, and lacing up their sneakers in the morning for a good cause.

The annual Step Up For Kids event ensures that Lurie Children’s Hospital patients and their families are supported not only medically, but emotionally. All proceeds benefit Lurie Children's Department of Family Services, which provides programs including school services, art and music therapy, spiritual support, and child life specialists.

We have lots to celebrate about this year’s event:

  • Together, all event participants raised more than $465,000 for Lurie Children’s Hospital.
  • BISC had one of the largest teams, with nearly 150 participants across both campuses, and donated approximately $9,000.
  • All BISC steppers put their best foot forward and made it to the finish line, 80 floors up!
  • Mr. James Brook, P.E. Specialist, achieved the 29th fastest time out of almost 2,000 participants.
  • Year 12 student Aeriel Burtley made a special appearance on CBS News before the event to talk about why participating is so important to our school. Watch below.

Well done, everyone! To see more photos from the event, click here.
