Students, unite! This month, Year 6 students at both BISC campuses came together for a day of bonding and creative problem-solving as they prepare to transition into middle school next year at the South Loop campus. The day—dubbed Enterprise Day—gave students the opportunity to work collaboratively in intercampus teams to design, advertise and cost a mascot product for the upcoming Olympic Games.

Following introductions, students participated in workshop sessions with teachers in the Secondary School that covered a wide range of skills: Mr. Adam Johnson (Business), Mr. Ben Percival (English), Ms. Amanda Copus and myself (Math), and Mr. Matt Davies and Mr. Sanjit Binning (Design Technology). Then, students had just two hours to develop and display their products, making their final products all the more impressive.

We arranged the displays in the dining room and invited Year 6 parents to join us for presentations. Secondary School teachers served as judges, scoring each group on their design process, financial planning, marketing ideas, and in some cases, radio jingles! All the projects were delivered to a very high standard, but the judges had to select an Olympic-style top three. Congratulations to the teams of Mexico, New Zealand and Spain, which earned Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, respectively.

The day was outstanding—it was fantastic to have students from both BISC campuses under one roof! We look forward to getting the year group back together towards the end of the school year.
