Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Ceremony - duke-of-edinburghs-international-award-ceremony
Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Ceremony On 4th February 2020, our school hosted the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award's ceremony.

On 4th February 2020, our school hosted the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award's ceremony. 52  of our students (recent and former) were awarded with their Bronze level or Silver level certificates and pins for successful completion of their (at times even 1 year long!) commitments in 3 various areas (physical recreation, skills, and community service). They have also proved their ability to collaborate, communicate, overcome difficulties, risk management in unknown environment settings under pressure.

It is a huge achievement from 14-15 year old students to commit and work towards a goal regularly for such a long time. It is part of the reason why this Award is also recognised by so many leaders worldwide. The students received their Award from H.E. Andrew Garth and 2 special guests, who will also speak to the students about the importance of commitment, responsibility as global citizens, the value of community, teamwork, and communication.

The Awards were presented by our principal, Mrs. Karen Eastwood; Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Andrew Wells and Board Member of DofE, Mr. Andrej Juris.

These are the awarded students:

Congratulations to all of our students on their huge success!

It may seem that everyone who starts the Award, will also finish it, however in Slovakia and worldwide, it is only about 60% of those who start at Bronze and even less at Silver level, who will actually finish their level.

However, at BISB with the help and the support of a large and enthusiastic Award team, the success rate of completion both the Bronze and Silver level is about 90%.
