Youth Speaks House Competition 2018

Commanding an audience, speaking with authority and convincing a panel of judges is a daunting, yet valuable skill for all people to develop.

And this is what Year 9 accomplished through the House Youth Speaks competition on Monday 22nd January. All Year 9 pupils competed in the first round of the contest in their English lessons, working in groups of three – a chair person, a main speaker, and a vote of thanks – to write and present a persuasive/informative speech on a topic of their choice.

Within each House there were outstanding deliveries, yet only one team from each House went through to the grand final judged by Mrs Eastwood, Mrs Warmington and Mr Evans.
