Over the last term we have been running the GC Rag Trade competition with 3 teams of students from years 7, 8 and 9.
The Rag Trade was a competition which challenged students to develop a concept for a fashion business. Our three teams developed websites, advertising strategies and a fashion design concept before making 4 final designs and pitching their businesses to our very own BISB Dragons' Den.
Our judges had a tough time deciding on the in-school winners and the results were very close. Our winning team - Sweet 16 - then went forward to the Global Classroom final to compete against our sister schools in Nord Anglia Education.
Feedback from the judges notes their 'real commitment to their ideas' and 'thoughtful' responses to some very difficult questions from the 'dragons'. They also noted they had provided 'good evidence supporting their thoughts on the commerciality of their company.'
In fact it was their commercial thinking - the viability of their product and their thought on how to successfully promote their designs - which was the decisive factor in Sweet 16's victory.
Please join us in congratulating our budding entrepreneurs - Na Young Kim, Nina Taranova, Nina Nunezova, Minkyung Kwon and Helena Jia Qi Zhu.
