WHAT’S THE INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMME (IBDP)?

The IBDP is a globally respected two-year university preparation course offered in the final years of secondary school (Years 12 and 13 at our IB school in Bratislava). This demanding but rewarding programme enables students to grow as world citizens while building the knowledge and skills to thrive at university and beyond.

The IBDP blends stimulating academics with enriching creative experiences and multicultural exposure. As an international qualification recognised by top universities worldwide, the IB diploma is particularly useful for students who plan to study abroad in the future.

THE IBDP: A COMPREHENSIVE EDUCATION WITH PERSONALISED PATHWAYS

A key advantage of the IBDP is that it offers a well-rounded education with opportunities to specialise in specific subject areas. All our IB students study six subject groups: Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, and the Arts. Each student selects three subject groups to take at higher level and three at standard level.

In addition, students further enhance their creativity, critical thinking and research skills by completing the required IBDP core programme:

  • Theory of Knowledge (TOK): a course that explores critical thinking, giving students an understanding of how we learn.

  • The Extended Essay: an in-depth independent research project focusing on a specific subject.

  • Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS): a range of activities that develop our students’ creative skills and wellbeing, and support our local community.
