Nord Anglia Education to Expand Global Family Through Acquisition of Six Schools
Nord Anglia Education is growing its family of international schools with the acquisition of six new schools in North America, Switzerland and China.
The British International School of Boston is excited to announce that Nord Anglia Education will welcome six schools from Meritas into our global family later this year. This is great news for our school, further enhancing Nord Anglia Education's position as the world's leading premium schools organization.
Nord Anglia Education will acquire four schools in North America, one school in Switzerland and one school in China, which currently educate over 8,600 students through day and boarding programs:

Nord Anglia Education will also welcome Leman Manhattan Preparatory School (founded in 2005) as an affiliate school of the organization.
When these schools join our family later this year, Nord Anglia Education will provide quality education to more than 32,300 students across a global network of 41 schools in 15 countries.
"We are delighted to announce this acquisition which brings together two of the world's leading global school networks and will offer enhanced opportunities for the students and staff of Meritas schools," said Andrew Fitzmaurice, CEO, Nord Anglia Education. "The Meritas schools are well aligned with our philosophy and are all market leaders in the locations they serve. Both Nord Anglia Education and Meritas offer students a highly personalized learning experience with a strong focus on global opportunities to support their success in school and beyond.”
All of the North American schools offer the International Baccalaureate as well as American curricula.
"This expands the organization’s educational offering and experience in our region, and gives our school four new sister schools with which to share good practice and learning opportunities for our staff and students across the United States," said British International School of Boston Headmaster Paul Wiseman.
We look forward to welcoming these schools into our growing international family, and appreciate the perspective they will bring as Nord Anglia Education continues to develop unique learning opportunities for students and staff, through initiatives such as the Global Classroom, the Global Orchestra and Tanzania expedition and a new Nord Anglia Education partnership with the Juilliard School.
"We expect this acquisition to enhance the long term growth and success of Nord Anglia Education as we capitalize on our market leading position to create unique opportunities for our students and staff and we look forward to building on the schools' impressive track record," Fitzmaurice said.
The acquisition of the new schools is expected to be completed by mid-2015, but it is subject to receipt of regulatory approvals and the satisfaction of other closing conditions.
