A full school uniform is included in your child's annual fees. You can find a list of items for each year group at the bottom of this page.
Should you need to replace any items, you can buy them from our uniform shop, which is located on our main campus.
The shop is open during school hours, Monday to Friday.
Throughout the school year our Friends of BIS parent group organises gently used uniform item sales, helping to reduce waste and increase sustainability.
Primary uniform
Children should wear sensible black leather shoes or closed toed sandals, preferably without laces. We don't allow novelty shoes with flashing lights, squeaking noises, or which have the rollerball facility. In addition, all children should wear either white, black, or grey ankle high socks.
Children with long hair should tie it back with either a red, blue, or maroon soft hair band. No bandana style headbands or hair accessories (which include hard bobbles) are allowed. Hard Alice bands shouldn't be worn. Parents should try to use hair accessories based on school colours. If in doubt, please talk to your child's teacher.
Children should always wear school hats when they are outside to protect them from the sun. BIS Hanoi has a ‘no hat, no play’ policy.
PE and swimming kit
Children must change into their PE kit for any physical activity. It's their responsibility to ensure they have it with them. Your child's class teacher will let you know the PE timetable. Children change back into school uniform after PE.
Winter clothing
The school provides a fleece and pullover as part of its uniform and these should be worn during the cooler months. Girls may wear black tights with their skirts/skorts during winter if they wish.
We hope parents and students will support our dress code by ensuring they only buy the correct items, that worn or frayed clothing is replaced, and that students leave home appropriately dressed.
