BIS Hanoi celebrates World Book Day 2023 all week long

BIS Hanoi celebrates World Book Day 2023 all week long | British International School Hanoi | Nord Anglia - BIS Hanoi celebrates World Book Day 2023 all week long

BIS celebrated UK World Book Day this week with various activities, learning, and events.

In Primary, students focused on a new author during Whole Class Reading lessons – Mem Fox for EYC, Swapna Haddow for Year 2, Anh Do for Years 3–4, and Grace Lin for Years 5–6. Older primary classes were paired with younger primary classes for some shared reading time, and there was a "design a potato book character" competition. Students and teachers of course dressed up as their favourite book character for the Friday assembly, but most also dressed up in pyjamas for Snuggle Up & Read sessions in the Library. During these sessions, many classes had stories read to them in Spanish, Japanese, or Korean by some parents from Mrs. Hall’s Parent Book Club.

In Secondary, students also dressed up for Friday’s Book Day Assembly and competed as houses in a Book Trivia Quiz prepared by Mrs. Hall and the House Captains. Secondary students also got to hear from some teachers about their favourite or current good reads during the assembly. In addition, each Secondary year level had DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) time this week. Students and teachers enjoyed finding a comfy, quiet spot in the Library to read their own books. Parents – I encourage you to declare DEAR time in your house this weekend or perhaps even once a week?
