Key Dates | Primary Learning Highlights
Dear Parents,
It has been another week of exciting learning in the Primary School; students have been working hard and this week it is the turn of our Year 6 students who have the spotlight on their learning. In addition to the full curriculum, Year 6 students have been crafting letters to Mr. Vaughan and myself to apply for the role of House and Vice-Captain of our school House Teams Hanoi, Dalat, Hue and Saigon. It is an exciting leadership position, and we look forward to welcoming them to their interviews which begin at the end of next week. I look forward to sharing more about this with you in the coming weeks.
It was great to see so many parents attend our most recent Virtual School Experience (VSE) Parent Workshop today for phonics. Ms. Jasmine explained how and why we teach phonics at BIS, both in the context of VSE and in school. Parents found it useful as they gained an understanding into the different phases of phonics their children study and how they can help and support at home. Ms. Jasmine shared many practical and fun games and ideas that parents can do with their children to help deepen their children’s knowledge of phonics to help them read and spell.
The slides (in English and Vietnamese) and recording of this VSE workshop are available in the parent folder in every child’s Teams files. Please check this folder regularly to see all of our previous VSE workshop slides and recordings.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Wednesday 13 October to Friday 15 October: International Week
Year 6 has enjoyed a fantastic experience over the last few weeks.
They've been learning about Genghis Khan, one of history's most famous emperors, as well as other fascinating topics. Let's watch some of the exciting moments that Year 6 had during their learning.
We have had an action-packed agenda of inter-house activities, Christmas performances from Foundation Stage and Year 1, and today we had our Principal’s Award Assembly for the whole school.
I hope you have all had a good week and are beginning to get into the festive spirit ahead of the holiday season.
Thank you to all families who joined us to be entertained with our Secondary theatre production of A Little Shop of Horrors this week.
From Sunday onwards, we have had our CIS/WASC visiting team here at school. This has been a great opportunity to share all the wonderful things that we are providing for our students across all sections and to gain further insight and ideas to help us improve even further.
