We want to offer some excellent ideas to assist you support your child throughout virtual learning. This week, we'll look at how you may review work assigned to students and ensure they have full access to the Microsoft Office Suite.

Managing assignments

Microsoft Teams is a powerful platform that allows you to view any assignments that your son or daughter has been assigned. To do so, simply select the Assignments tab on the left side of Teams (green circle). This will show all ongoing assignments as well as those that have been completed (blue circle). You can filter specific classes (orange circle) and also see when an assignment is due. When an assignment is completed, it is moved to the 'completed' tab. Students will receive feedback once the teacher has returned it.

Installing Microsoft Office

This year, we moved away from the Google Platform to Microsoft Office and Teams. As part of this transition, all students now have access to the most up to date Microsoft Office Suite (Office 365). This includes desktop versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote to name just a few. It is strongly advised that students download and install the desktop versions of these applications. It is free to do so through their school account and will allow them to utilize the full features of Microsoft Office compared to the online versions. The installation is compatible with both Windows and Apple products.

To install the Microsoft Office Suite for free, go to www.office.com, sign in using your school email and password, and then select the ‘Install Office' option, as seen in the image above. Follow the onscreen instructions and be sure you use the school email account when activating the products.

Our work in Teams continues to go from strength to strength and our students are enjoying the various interactive features on offer. As we continue our virtual offering, further features will be incorporated to continue our high-quality Virtual Learning Experience.
