Protecting our community

Protecting our community Protecting the health and safety of every member of our school community is our top priority at BIS Hanoi.

Protecting the health and safety of every member of our school community is our top priority at BIS Hanoi.

I have often said to parents, and at no time more sincerely than now, that protecting the health and safety of every member of our school community is our top priority at BIS Hanoi.

You will, of course, be aware of the developing situation in and around Hanoi regarding Covid-19. We are monitoring the situation closely and are in touch with both our Nord Anglia Education Regional Head Office, based in Ho Chi Minh City, and with DOET.

We have already taken the following steps –

  • All students and members of staff are required to complete a health declaration form. If you have not yet completed forms for your children - you can access the link here
  • Masks are to be worn in all areas around the school, by all members of the community
  • Temperature checks are carried out on arrival at school for all staff and students
  • Hand washing and use of hand sanitizer will be increased and the school cleaning schedule has been stepped up
  • Events have been cancelled with immediate effect including assemblies, trips, sports fixtures, ECAs, Saturday School, all contact sports and swimming
  • Our end of term special Tet assembly will be live streamed into classrooms, parents will be provided with a link
  • No parents are allowed on campus; arrangements have been made for drop off and collection at the gate for EYC children

We have asked staff, and would respectfully ask all families, to stay local this weekend and avoid crowded places and large gatherings.

As yet, we have not received guidance regarding school opening for next week. We are therefore preparing for all eventualities. We hope that the situation will be contained and that we are able to continue with face-to-face school. I think everyone would agree that this is the best way to teach children and help them develop socially and emotionally. However, if we do need to close the school, we will resume our Virtual School Experience, and plans for this are already in place.

I have tremendous confidence, based on experiences over the last year, that the authorities will handle the situation in such a way as to ensure the best outcomes for all citizens and residents of Vietnam. That includes decisions which are made regarding schools and education. We will, of course, continue to keep all families updated.

Wishing you a safe and healthy weekend.
