This term, the Performing Arts department really missed our ECA programme as we really love spending time working towards performance projects with a mix of students from different year groups. We decided to run some lunchtime activities for our keenest thespians to come along and have opportunities to act and dance outside of lessons.
We were very lucky to get a dedicated team of Y6-Y8 students who committed to two lunchtimes per week with Ms Bevan and Ms Loveday. With such talent in our group – we could not resist putting on a short production. As a result… ‘Starbird’ was born.
Based on the book of the same name by Sharon King-Chai, Starbird tells the story of a magical bird who was captured and caged by the selfish Moon King. The performers choreographed dances, devised physical theatre and narrated the story in a creative and imaginative short production. We performed live to an audience of parents, teachers and students on Friday 19th June.
But – do not worry if you missed it, as our performance was filmed and will be screened as part of the online Digital P.A.S. Festival this Saturday 27th June at 2.30pm. To watch our performance please follow the link below.
