Dear Parents,
What an incredible week of performances at BIS! The week started with the Foundation Stage Christmas sing-alongs and an amazing performance from Year 1. Young children develop so quickly, and the first years of a child’s learning journey are a time of discovery, awe and wonder. Our young learners certainly showed how much they have developed in confidence since starting here at BIS.
The last two nights belonged to our Secondary students. Elf, our annual production, was a huge success and has received superb reviews. The well-known story of Buddy, a boy who believed he was an elf, was everything a festive production should be featuring Santa, snow and a jolly ending! The students delivered a polished performance with songs, dance and a few funny lines to keep the audience amused. A special mention for our star, Hoang Anh who was brilliant in the role of Buddy!
I would like to congratulate everyone involved in the performance. The orchestra provided exceptional accompaniment to the production under the expert direction of Jon Scott. As usual, the participation of musical members of staff and a parent made the orchestra even more special. The cast performed with enthusiasm and engaged with the captive audience from the start to finish. Talented singers and dancers added to the spectacle. Many thanks to Ms Emily Bevan, our Dance specialist and Rachael Howarth, our Head of Performing Arts. And, to our Director, Kathryn Loveday, you excelled this year – congratulations on the biggest and best production that BIS has ever seen!
I wish you all a very happy holiday and look forward to welcoming you back in 2020!
We have had an action-packed agenda of inter-house activities, Christmas performances from Foundation Stage and Year 1, and today we had our Principal’s Award Assembly for the whole school.
I hope you have all had a good week and are beginning to get into the festive spirit ahead of the holiday season.
Thank you to all families who joined us to be entertained with our Secondary theatre production of A Little Shop of Horrors this week.
From Sunday onwards, we have had our CIS/WASC visiting team here at school. This has been a great opportunity to share all the wonderful things that we are providing for our students across all sections and to gain further insight and ideas to help us improve even further.
