On December 11 & 12, students from different age groups and nationalities came together, after months of practicing, to bring audiences an amazing Secondary Production: Elf The Musical. The festive stage show attracted over 500 paying audience members throughout the two-night run with many compliments on their excellent performances.
The students started their rehearsals in September. Following on from a rigorous casting process, nearly 100 students and 23 teachers and other staff have worked very hard across the Performing Arts disciplines of Drama, Dance and Music, to produce an incredible drama full of festive cheer. The audience could clearly see the hours of hard work that had gone into producing the show and the enjoyment that our students got from the opportunity offered to them.
This year, our students and Performing Arts team brought to the audience a drama called ‘Elf The Musical’. Elf is a smash hit musical full of comedy, singing and dancing. The story of Elf is a festive classic that teaches us that nothing is more important during the holiday season than spending time with our family and loved ones.
The show was a sell-out, with over 500 excited friends, family, and colleagues watching in the audience. As the students performed their roles perfectly and danced their way through the city of New York; the crowd laughed during the comedy scenes and sang along with many of the songs.
The audience was also impressed with the stage decoration, lighting and beautiful festive costumes. Special thanks to our Friends of BIS group who have supported the Performing Arts team in making all the amazing Elf costumes!
The show also gave us our largest ever live orchestra with over 40 students, teachers and parents performing the full score from the Broadway musical showing that this production was a full school community project.
Through the production, we could see how the students were growing in confidence and belief in their character portrayal. This was a great opportunity for them to work together, strengthen their friendships and develop resilience to do their best at all times.
This is truly a Production to remember and an amazing way to wrap up our Term 1! Thank you to all staff and parents who have supported the show and to everyone who have come to see, we hope you had a great time enjoying the Production.
Approximately 15 million VND was raised from ticket sales and this will be shared amongst our various community partners that we work very closely with.
