Our talented teachers here at BIS Hanoi have a great deal of expertise to blog about. Although our Marketing Team share articles containing interesting educational information on our website or through social media, they can go unnoticed by parents and likeminded professionals. With this in mind, I would like to tell you about some of the changes that you will notice about how we are sharing information, over the next few weeks.

Dear Parents,

Our talented teachers here at BIS Hanoi have a great deal of expertise to blog about. Although our Marketing Team share articles containing interesting educational information on our website or through social media, they can go unnoticed by parents and likeminded professionals. With this in mind, I would like to tell you about some of the changes that you will notice about how we are sharing information, over the next few weeks.

On our BIS website, you will see a change in the ‘News and Events’ section. All our interesting information will now be presented under two headings: News and Blog. ‘News’ will contain reports on events that have happened and celebrations of student achievements. ‘Blog’ will contain articles giving key messages about our school vision and developments; reflections on how education and teaching and learning practice is changing; insight into education practice and advice for parents on helping children to thrive.

One article which was published this week in the ‘Blog’ section is highly relevant to an event that happened in school. The article, ‘Can studying Performing Arts Create Successful Students?’ has been written by Laura Rea (our BIS Head of Performing Arts and Regional Lead for South East Asia). In the article, Laura explains about the transferable skills which can be mastered through the performing arts and have a real impact in other subjects. Skills such as developing confidence, team work and listening were certainly seen during this week’s celebration of our beginner musicians. The Live Lunch is an informal event in which students can play solo or sing as part of a choir. The performances don’t have to be polished and are a stepping stone to our whole school concerts and musical show cases. What a pleasure it was to sit and enjoy watching and listening as the sounds of clarinet, oboe, piano, brass and violin filled the BIS foyer.
