On Wednesday 26th September, Year 11 Geography students spent a day travelling around Hanoi to collect data towards their IGCSE Coursework project. In this project, students are investigating the various environmental conditions that exist around the city, such as air quality and water quality. Students visited 9 different sites, including Hoan Kiem Lake and Vinhomes Riverside, to measure variables such as: temperature, water pH, noise level, traffic levels and Air Quality Index.
Furthermore, students retained water samples from each site and have been testing these in the laboratory at school to detect if pollutants such as Copper and Chromium are present. The students worked very hard all day and represented BIS brilliantly around the city. The data collected will help them to determine if there are any patterns to the environmental quality in Hanoi, and what could explain these patterns.
