Dear Parents,
I am so proud of our FOBISIA team who returned from Kuala Lumpur on Monday weighted down with trophies and 100 medals! The 24 competitors took part in a three day sporting extravaganza against 5 other international teams and came back victorious winning gold in athletics, two golds and a silver in football, silver in tee ball and bronze in swimming.
The competition was a fantastic opportunity for making new friends from different countries too, as you can see from reading the reflections below. Congratulations British International School Hanoi - you were truly amazing and demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, care, respect and integrity both on and off the pitch.
Now over to the students:
Swimming –Linh Lan
In swimming we came 3rd out of 6 schools. We met a lot of other students from other International schools. Sometimes when the swimming competition was on and our team had already finished, I would cheer on my new friends’ team from the other schools. It was our first sports that we had competed in. We had a lot of fun! After lunch we had Athletics! In total we had 100 medals for the whole day. We were all really excited for Tee Ball the next day.
Football –Duy Hung
It was a wonderful experience. We met a lot of strong teams and we enjoyed the time.
U10 Girls They tried really hard, but the other team were very good and won, although the girls did very well and I’m really proud.
U11 Girls They had a lot of problems but they showed great perseverance and respect. They also played really well. They got 2nd place and they did great.
U10 Boys I have nothing to say, they were fantastic in every match they played. They showed great sportsmanship and I'm very happy. I was one of them, one of the champions!!
U11 boys they played well and have good sportsmanship. The others played great but we did really well.
Tee ball –Nam Anh
Before we started playing matches, we felt very worried that we might lose, so we just told each other to try our best. Then, we played our first game. We did a great job and beat the host school 20-10. After that, I felt much more confident to play T-ball. We became fantastic and extremely competitive too! The U10 boys and girls won every match easily until the last match. We were going to play a Beijing school that had their own T-ball league. We tried hard and did very well; however, we were beaten by 1 point. Half of our team cried! We were still very proud for beating lots of brilliant teams and also made many friendly international friends so we were honoured to get a silver medal. It was a great experience for us all and we showed great respect and even cheered for the other teams! We are really proud and hope that all of you are proud of us too!
Athletics –Phuong Anh
In athletics we won, 1st out of 6 schools in total. We won a trophy! We were all so excited! I was really proud of myself. I also can’t believe that we won every 100m relay race. Athletics was tiring; all of us have sunburn, especially on our shoulders. My favourite part of athletics is that we tried our best and show great sportsmanship to everyone. It was so much fun in athletics that next year I want to do it again.
Gala Dinner –Linh Lan
Our first gala dinner was on Friday 19th we all came inside the dinner room and sat next to our friends from our team. We talked a lot about the competition the next day because most of us were really excited! However, some of us were a bit nervous so we just motivated them to do their best in the competition.
Our gala dinner that was on Sunday 21st we sat next to our new friends that we had made during our experience in FOBISIA. We had a really fun dinner and with our friends; new and old. We won a 3rd place trophy for swimming, one 2nd for tee ball, 1st for U10 boys football, 1st for U11 boys football, 2nd U11 girls football, one for participation and 1ST FOR ATHLETICS!!!!! We were all so proud of ourselves. The next day we headed back to Hanoi.
Cinderella
Now onto our younger students and their super achievements on the stage this week. Year 2 and 3 performed Cinderella- The True Story, on Tuesday for parents and staff. The engaging performance was half an hour of fun, fabulous acting and super singing. What a showcase of what is possible when over 90 children come together with 4 talented teachers and 4 creative TAs. Congratulations to all involved - children, you were all incredible!
