This week has been an exciting week for those of us interested in mathematics education at Northbridge International School Cambodia. We were honored to host educators not only from neighboring schools but also from across international borders for the Southeast Asia Maths Conference featuring Liz Gibbs. 

During Primary education at Northbridge International School Cambodia, our students are beginning to form their identities and perceptions of the world, and the role of school counseling and Personal, Social, Health, and Economic Wellbeing (PSHE) education cannot be overstated. These two components play an important role in shaping the holistic social and emotional wellbeing of students whilst equipping them with essential life skills.

The world is changing, and so are educational philosophies at schools like Northbridge International School Cambodia. In the past (and in schools of lower quality today), schools were focused only on teaching knowledge and hard facts – trigonometry, electron shell configurations, important historical dates, etc., with the goal of passing standardized tests.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK) is a unique subject that not only equips Northbridge International School Cambodia students with critical thinking skills but also fosters a deeper understanding of the world around them. As parents, you play a crucial role in supporting your child's education and helping them make informed choices. 

Held every year on 21 February, International Mother Language Day is observed worldwide - including here at Northbridge International School Cambodia - to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. The theme for this year is “Multilingual education is a pillar of intergenerational learning.”

As parents, we all want the very best for our children and their education. We strive to provide them with the tools and strategies that will empower them to navigate the challenges of learning and excel in their academic endeavors. Nevertheless, to thrive in life and prepare them for an uncertain future, it is imperative that Northbridge International School Cambodia students acquire knowledge beyond mere academics.

The future of IT in education is looking increasingly promising, with new technologies and advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning set to revolutionize the way we think about learning. With the advent of these tools, educators worldwide, including here at Northbridge International School Cambodia, are exploring new ways to enhance the classroom experience for students.

At Northbridge International School Cambodia, we recognise that lessons learned outside of the classroom are just as vital as the learning that takes place inside, with field trips to destinations around Phnom Penh held throughout the year, as well as special annual Action Learning Camps, known as ALCs.

University application season is in full swing at Northbridge International School Cambodia. Having passed the United Kingdom's January 31st UCAS deadline, our students submitted 180 applications spanning 36 students to top institutions across the U.K.

In today's academic climate of specialisation, the arts remain crucial for developing well-rounded, empathetic individuals, such as the students at Northbridge International School Cambodia. Drama deserves recognition for its unique role in cultivating the "whole child" from a young age.

The Northbridge International School Cambodia Choir had an extremely busy festive season at the end of 2023 and what a pleasure it was to lead them through this mammoth undertaking!

Learning environments play a crucial role in the education of Early Learning students at Northbridge International School Cambodia. These environments can be considered as a third teacher, alongside the actual teachers and the students themselves.

Raising a teenager can feel like navigating a thrilling yet unpredictable terrain. Between academic pressures, social complexities, and the quest for identity, it's natural to worry about equipping them with the tools they need to thrive. This is where Northbridge International School Cambodia's International Life Skills (ILS) programme steps in, not as a magic shield, but as a comprehensive map for your child's journey to becoming a confident, well-rounded adult.

Northbridge International School Cambodia has embraced a program in Early Learning to Grade Two that focuses on those first steps to reading – unlocking the phonetic code to the English language. Teachers and Teaching Assistants in Early Learning 4 , KG, Grade One and Grade Two are working with students every day for up to 30 minutes to develop student’s decoding skills. These skills are foundational to the reading process.

As the holiday season wraps up and we move into second semester at Northbridge International School Cambodia, it's the perfect time to ponder the delicate art of balance in our lives.
