Although the experience varies for each family, raising children today is more complex than it once was. Amid changing societal expectations, the ubiquity of social media, and increased academic competition, parents are searching for answers on how to most effectively help their children learn and grow in the modern world.
Parents often find themselves asking, “Will my child be ready for whatever the future brings? Will there be opportunities for them to thrive?” INSIGHTS is a brand new magazine from Nord Anglia Education that tries to help families make sense of the questions they ask about their children.
Join us to learn about INSIGHTS and how it can support you in aiding your children in growing up to be successful adults.
INSIGHTS is a brand-new publication from Nord Anglia that looks at the things that matter most to young people and their parents when it comes to education. Can kids learn how to be happy? And if they can, will it make a difference? Do children need knowledge anymore, when everything’s a click or a swipe away? Does learning about ‘making a difference’ actually make any difference at all?
In the first issue, INSIGHTS’ articles offer a comprehensive look into hot-topic aspects of global education, tackling topics from emotional health in young people to the role of technology, artificial intelligence in learning, and what the future of education and well-being could look like from the perspective of world-leading experts, teachers, and students.
One of the first articles, titled In Pursuit of Happiness, delves into the essential role emotional well-being plays in the lives of young learners, and it sparked interest in our Head of School at Windermere Preparatory School, Dr. Mitchell Salerno.
“When I read the article, I immediately thought about our core values of Unitas, Veritas, and Virtus at Windermere Prep. Why? When I read the following quote in the article, the question raised resonated deeply: “The central question in moral education is ‘What kind of a person do you want to be?’…this topic is surely worthy of at least an hour a week in the school curriculum,” says Dr. Salerno.
“What kind of person do you want to be?” This is a powerful and important question,” details Dr. Salerno. “At Windermere Prep, we strive to educate our students to be others-focused (Unitas), learn how to distinguish between right and wrong (Veritas), and to have integrity in everything they do (Virtus). We also want our young people to grow into happy adults.”
All articles published in INSIGHTS are written by highly-regarded journalists and education thought leaders that seek to provide next-level insights, research, and interviews that speak to the questions parents are asking about their child’s education and shed light on new teaching strategies.
The first issue of INSIGHTS is now live, and new articles will be regularly published on the website here. Check back regularly for updates or subscribe to the INSIGHTS mailing list to never miss a new article.
In addition to its collection of thought-provoking articles, INSIGHTS also serves as a platform to share the latest research findings, interviews with educational leaders, and opinion pieces on best practices in teaching and learning.
“Our mission with INSIGHTS is to shed light on the complexities of modern education as we all strive to prepare the next generation for a rapidly changing world,” shares Lord David Puttnam, Chairman of Nord Anglia’s Education Advisory Board.
It’s an exceptional resource for parents interested in exploring the latest and greatest educational opportunities for their children at every stage of their development from preschool through high school.
