The softball team earned a trip to the FHSAA State Semifinals with an exciting win over The First Academy, 4-3 in 11 innings. With the game tied at three in the top of the 11th inning, Madison Carr singled on a 1-0 count plating Gracie Wallace to give the Lakers a 4-3 lead.
The Lakers carried a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the 7th inning when Camille Mackedon homered on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs.
Wallace led the Lakers to victory on the rubber as she surrendered three runs on nine hits over 11 innings, striking out 21.
WPS totaled 12 hits in the game. Mia Williams, Wallace, and Carr each collected multiple hits for the Lakers. Williams led the team with four hits in five at bats.
The Lakers will now play Episcopal School of Jacksonville in the FHSAA State Semifinals on Wednesday at noon at Legends Way Ball Fields in Clermont.
