NAE Senior Leadership Program

Over the last week, High School Director, Dr. Leslie Williams, had the opportunity to embark on a professional development journey focused on leadership development. While attending the Nord Anglia University (NAU) Senior Leadership Program (SLP) in Bangkok, Thailand, Dr. Williams worked alongside 28 other NAE leaders to develop her skills and awareness of what leadership looks like in the 21st century.

The SLP is a program that works with aspiring school leaders to evaluate who they currently are and want to be as leaders. Participants must apply for the program to be considered for one of the 30 spots available. It involves two residentials: a three-day workshop in February and a five-day workshop in November, where the participants spend 9-10 hours each day dissecting various elements of leadership practices. During the months between residentials, the participants work through monthly tasks that take them through marketing and admissions practices, a quality assurance framework, finance, and vision/goals of Nord Anglia Education (NAE) at large.

This program emphasizes the need for leaders to be reflective practitioners. In the busy pace of school settings, they are making hundreds of decisions that will impact the students and the faculty which they serve. Professional development such as this is essential to help leaders take a step back to examine their leadership styles, areas of improvement, evaluate habits, and make adjustments to be even more effective. NAE cares about the success of its leaders because ultimately, the better they are, the better able they are to serve the students and teachers.

Dr. Williams greatly appreciated being selected for and participating in this program. She learned a great deal about herself in the process and what areas of leadership she wants to grow so she can be more effective here at Windermere Preparatory School.
