At Windermere Preparatory High School in Orlando, our oldest students’ learning journey culminates in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program.

In grades 9 and 10, our students enjoy a broad and balanced High School curriculum, which supports their academic progression on to the IB Diploma Program. In grades 11 and 12, learners then work towards their IB Diploma, which is recognized as the gold standard of international education.

To enrich our students’ learning experience, teachers collaborate across the disciplines to connect different subjects through experiential events. Whether learners are building their knowledge through seminars on campus or through field trips, they have many chances to apply their knowledge.

Beyond the classroom, our students get involved with extracurricular activities, clubs, athletics, and the fine and performing arts. Having a well-rounded background enriches their college applications, and we also offer excellent guidance to help them find and gain admission to first-choice universities.

A GUIDE TO OUR HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULUM

At Windermere Preparatory High School, we offer a wide variety of elective options and IB courses that make our curriculum the most distinguished in the state. This enables our students to create a bespoke program of study that keeps them motivated to perform at their best.

Each year, students complete a minimum of 6.5 credits. This enables them to achieve the graduation requirement of 24 credits. A student’s schedule is comprised of a combination of core classes – English, math, science, social sciences, and world languages – and electives.

The only International Baccalaureate (IB) private High School in Florida to offer the IB Diploma Program in grades 11 and 12, we offer a variety of courses through six subject groups, which have been defined by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). These groups are English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, World Languages, and the Fine and Performing Arts.

At the end of each quarter, students receive report cards, which provide information about their progress. These quarter grades serve as good indicators of each student’s mastery of the class content. Final semester grades appear on students’ transcripts.

In entrepreneurship class, we discuss how to start a business. Each student maps out their own business venture to be launched by the end of the school year as part of the Start Up Studio. At the annual showcase, everyone will share their business ventures in the hopes of gaining investors!

In High Level Statistics, part of the IBDP path, we solve problems individually in class and collaboratively with a partner. We use dry erase markers on desks to visualize the problems, erase mistakes, and make quick notes.

In Physics Honors, we play with mini-race cars and ramps, adjusting the ramp height to accommodate the car’s journey. We use equations we’ve learned to know how to adjust the ramp angle, syncing it with the expected time on the stopwatch.
