Originally from New Zealand, I've been teaching internationally for 30 years in France, Philippines, Sweden and Tanzania before coming to Northbridge in 2011. I am passionate about teaching language and literature as reading helps to diversify students' perspectives. As Yann Martel (author of 'Life of Pi') says: “If literature does one thing, it makes you more empathetic by making you live other lives and feel the pain of others." Helping students to develop their thinking skills is also imperative given the sheer amount of information (and disinformation) they are exposed to each day. Students need to know not just how to read, but how to read critically.
Qualifications: Master's in French Language and Literature.
