After a long and challenging year, the Northbridge International School Cambodia Class of 2021 finally graduated. Congratulations Grade 12! Hear their thoughts in the video below.
Speech from Ms Frances Morton, Head of Secondary
When I was thinking about what message to give today, I could not help reflecting on the past year, your challenges but also your successes and resilience, and I ask the question “Why are we still so motivated in what we do?”
Motivation is the most powerful of things. It will increase your efforts and therefore boost your productivity but more importantly it will help you go against the odds and see the possibilities that are there. I have witnessed you motivate others with your positivity, therefore making the DP process successful and fun - and yes, even extended essay.
Without even realising it, your motivation has allowed yourself and others to reach their goals this year and follow their dreams and achieve success.
In life we cannot always count on being born great or having greatness thrust upon us but always remember that the opportunity to achieve greatness is always within your grasp.
Remember that many of our political and social leaders, sport legends and heroes started their lives as an average person, just like you and me. Despite the mistakes you might make and even though we are “average” we are people that can be recognised by our greatness. Whether recognised by the world or just a few.
Remember that to achieve greatness, it is not to simply give money and receive recognition but to leave behind something that gives a little happiness and hope.
Many years ago, Steve Jobs gave a graduation speech and advised his audience:
At Northbridge International School, we are proud to produce students that make a difference. Graduates that go out into the world and follow their dreams. So graduating class of 2021, you have a lot to live up to.
You have no choice but to get out into the world, following your passions that you will love and make a difference in the world, making it a better place. Remember that when you leave us today you will not be remembered by grades and awards. You will be remembered by the relationships you built, the memories you made. This is your legacy.
Congratulations Class of 2021, I wish you the very very best.
