New Head of Primary Mr Martyn arrives at Northbridge and looks forward to meeting everyone! With the whole world living in extraordinary times there were a few moments where we thought we may not make it here. Thanks to the dedication of the team here at Northbridge International School Cambodia, the journey was smooth and trouble free and arrival was a huge relief after the hustle of packing, saying goodbyes and organising everything.

Organization on arrival was fantastic and soon we were in our new home and able to relax. As you can imagine, we were soon ready to get out and explore.

Within the first few hours of being out and about in Phnom Penh it was obvious what a vibrant and busy city it is. Both my wife and I commented on how at home and comfortable we felt, whether it was exploring the markets, searching downtown for household items or sampling the lovely food options available.

There is still much to see and experience but we know we will be happy here and we are excited to start the new chapter in our lives. I have even managed a spot of cycling over in Silk Island (and got rather muddy).

I had been lucky enough to visit the school last year but it was lovely to see again the large green spaces and spacious classrooms. After being in Dubai for five years it was also fantastic to experience rain which is quite rare in the desert!

It has been a pleasure meeting all the teachers and staff over the last two weeks as we prepared for the start of the new year and everyone has been super helpful. Our teaching teams have been busy planning and new teachers have been learning all about Northbridge, Nord Anglia and the PYP. We even took part in some local cultural dances!

We are set up and ready for the beginning of the new year and looking forward to welcoming our students back to school. It was great to see many of them engaging in Google chats and uploading their work to Seesaw this week.

We are still awaiting further news regarding school reopening but are well prepared and ready for all eventualities. In all cases I am so happy to be here and take on my new position at Northbridge and am really looking forward to meeting the great students and families that I have heard so much about.
