The Northbridge International School Cambodia Grade 5 students finished a fantastic semester of dance. They took on the challenge of choreographing a dance as an entire class with the artistic intention being our school motto: "We are many communities but we are one."
Then, they studied one of the Juilliard core works called REIII by choreographer Shen Wei, where they explored how dance connects to other disciplines and creating dances that show visual structures.
Grade 4s start dance this semester and have already shown keen interest in learning how to negotiate space, dance with focus, learn to control their bodies, and finding joy in individual expressive movement.
We are so lucky here at Northbridge to have a collaboration with the Juilliard School and dance as a specialist subject. More and more schools are realizing the importance of dance in childhood development and the positive impact dance has on the rest of their learning.
Curious about why dance is just as important as any other subject in school? Read this article.
