Qatar National Day celebrations at NAISAK had a different flavor this year, bringing together students, parents, and teachers to honor the rich culture and heritage of Qatar. The day was filled with delicious traditional food prepared by NAISAK’s wonderful parents, exciting activities and seating throughout the courtyard, and traditional dances and cultural presentations that highlighted the nation's history and values. The enthusiasm from everyone involved was palpable, creating a sense of unity and pride throughout the school. As our principal remarked, “It was one of those events that truly brought our NAISAK community together. From the delicious food, the traditional dances to the amazing falcons that stole the show, it felt like a celebration of everything that makes this place so special.”
Our Qatari students showed their pride in the Ardah dance (traditional Sword Dance) on the stage, showcasing the ways in which Qataris celebrated in traditional times and still do today. Adding to the celebration, majestic falcons captivated attendees with their beauty and grace. These magnificent birds, symbolic of Qatar’s heritage, reminded everyone of the country’s deep cultural traditions.
The Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Qatar History Department, as well as our MOEHE & Family Liaison, Ms. Sana Obaid, constructed a cinema displaying a look into Qatar’s vision for 2030 in the gym. While students and parents gathered in the courtyard for traditional songs and poems recited by our exceptional student artists, there was a shared recognition of how far Qatar has come and the promise of what is to come. The entire event was a testament to the dedication and effort of the NAISAK community. As our principal highlighted, “These events don’t just happen, they take a lot of hard work and coordination behind the scenes. A huge thank you to everyone who pitched in to make it such a success.”
The celebration was clearly a hit with the students as well. Year 9 student Muhammed shared, “This year was absolute top! The school exceeded expectations, and we got the best National Day I have seen in the school for a long time. I especially had fun watching the younger students perform. They looked so cute up on the stage with their little outfits and their dances.” This sentiment echoed the joy felt by many, particularly during the heartwarming performances of the younger students.
Parents also shared their appreciation for the event. One parent expressed, “This day was beyond magical for all the students and for us the parents. We have not seen NAISAK so alive and full of pride. It really is a reflection of how our children are feeling towards their school every day and how much pride they have for this amazing country!” The sense of pride and connection was not just felt by the students, but also deeply resonated with the families, creating a strong sense of community.
Overall, the Qatar National Day event at NAISAK was a huge success, leaving lasting memories and fostering a stronger sense of community and pride in the nation's history. “A nation’s culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people,” as Mahatma Gandhi once said, and it was evident in the joy and pride displayed by everyone who attended.
“I am so happy to be part of the organizing committee of the Qatar National Day event at NAISAK. I appreciate the parents first, for their unwavering support in making this event so bright, happy, and dripping in culture and tradition. I also want to thank the students for being an integral part of this event with their enthusiasm and their pride and spirit toward this amazing day!” said Ms. Sana Obaid, MOEHE & Family Liaison at NAISAK. “Happy Qatar National Day to you and your loved ones!”
